About The Book
The internet is a critical tool in helping musicians at all levels grow their fan bases, generate revenue and sustain their careers. Whether it’s an engaging website that helps define the artist and share information, social media content that reflects the artist, or an ecommerce platform that makes the artist money, today’s musicians often have to learn a lot of new technology and juggle multiple platforms just to have even a basic digital presence. Unfortunately there isn’t an instruction manual that is handed out to all new artists that gives them the technological foundation and strategic insight that they need to grow their followers, promote their releases and build their careers.
Until now.
"The Musician’s Guide To The Internet" will provide musicians at all stages of their careers – from new bands to touring indie groups, newly-signed acts to world-famous entertainers – with easy-to-understand insights into the technology and strategies that will empower them to control their own musical destiny. Drawing on both a decade of experience as a professional singer/songwriter and over 15 years as the co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of BubbleUp, the largest digital media and marketing agency for the music industry, Lee Totten provides a comprehensive overview of the digital landscape entertainers need to navigate, as well as the marketing and content strategies that BubbleUp has used with artists like Jimmy Buffett, Luke Bryan, The Black Keys, Aerosmith, The Avett Brothers and more.
In addition to chapters on everything from building a website to digital distribution, setting up email addresses to social media content and marketing, the book contains interviews with industry-leading managers, booking agents, marketing agencies, artists and label executives who share their insights and ideas on the best way for artists to leverage the internet for sustained success.
And since the technology is constantly evolving, the book includes access to a companion website (MusiciansGuideToTheInternet.com) containing in-depth video tutorials on all aspects of building and maintaining a digital presence, long-form video interviews with industry experts, discussion boards, live QA sessions and more, updated frequently to keep up with the latest trends.
Taken together, the book and companion website are a master class that provide artists at all stages of their careers with the knowledge and insight to successfully leverage the internet to reach more fans, make more money and, most importantly, sustain their careers.
